THE GARDENS OF THE UNIDAD EDUCATIVA

The gardens at the school of the UNIDAD EDUCATIVA in Tupigachi, Ecuador are all student-made. Each grade was able to have a section of the garden and in their classes they learned how to take care of their plot of plants. The school was so successful with their gardens that they won the Pedro Moncayo community award for environmental awareness and protection. The school plans to continue to plant gardens and teach their students about how they can conserve their environment, which is especially important in a country like Ecuador that is so rich with various types of landscapes (i.e the amazons).
